Applying Correction Proposals

Green, clickable correction proposals in the Language Check Panel can be applied directly to the text. If there is no correction proposal, but the keyword is followed by the instruction, the potential error must be corrected manually in the text.

The following instructions describe how to apply clickable correction proposals.

Requirements:

  • The Language Check Panel is open.
  • You have selected a notification.
  • The notification contains a correction proposal that is displayed in green.

How to apply a correction proposal:

  1. Click the correction proposal that is displayed in green:
  2. The correction proposal will be applied to the text.
  3. The release level will be updated.

Warning:

If a new correction proposal appears after applying a correction proposal, this does not represent a malfunction of the Language Check. After applying a correction proposal, the Language Check will check the current sentence anew and update the list of correction proposals.

Note:

Some errors might prevent other errors from being found. For example, a large number of grammatical errors can impact the style check in some cases, as the style check can only be applied to sentences that can be grammatically be identified as such.

How to apply a correction proposal to the entire document:

  1. Click the Apply for entire document button:
    1. The following view will open up:
  2. You have three options:
  3. Click Back to leave the view.
  4. View all notification hits and apply the correction proposal to selected notification hits.
  5. Click Apply all to apply the correction proposal to all notification hits.
  6. The correction proposal will be applied to all places in the document in which the error occurs.
  7. The release level will be updated.

Background: Apply for Entire Document

Even if a potential error occurs repeatedly in the document, this does not automatically mean that the Apply for entire document will be available. Exceptions:

  • The notification hits contain the same word, but differ in terms of the case, number, or gender. Apply for entire document could result in grammatically faulty constructions and is therefore not available.
  • A terminology error is on hand, which requires an individual decision for each hit, e.g. POSNEG.
  • The correction proposal contains more than one option that can be applied. Here too, a decision needs to be made in each individual case. Therefore, Apply to entire document is not available.
