Style Guide – Synonyms

You can store synonyms in the Synonyms menu. Based on the stored synonyms, Congree can not only recognize directly stored synonym relationships in the text, but also correctly analyze term variants that contain synonyms.

Example:

When the synonym relationship "Rechner" - "computer" is stored, "Automatisierungs- und Computertechnologie" is recognized as a variant of "Automatisierungs- und Rechnertechnologie".

The area for managing synonym sets

  1. Language drop-down list: Select the language for your synonym set.
  2. Sublanguage drop-down list: Select the sublanguage for your synonym set.
  3. Synonym set drop-down list: If you have already created one or more synonym sets, you can select a synonym set here.
  4. Create button: Create a new synonym set.
  5. Clone button: Clone the selected synonym set. The button is only enabled when a synonym set is selected under Synonym set.
  6. Edit button: Change the name of the synonym set. The button is only enabled when a synonym set is selected under Synonym set.
  7. Delete button: Delete the selected synonym set. The button is only enabled when a synonym set is selected under Synonym set
  8. Export button: Export a synonym set as an XML file with the .settings file format.
  9. Import button: Import a synonym set as an XML file with the .settings file format.

Overview of the Synonym Table

  1. Search panel
  2. Refresh button: Show the current status of your synonym set.
  3. Add a row button: Add a new row to the table for a synonym relationship.
  4. Delete button: Delete the selected rows.

    2. Synonymity column: Information, which kind of synonymy exists
      • → means directional Synonymy
      • ↔ means bidirectional Synonymy
    3. Word column: Word
    4. Synonyms column: Synonym synonyms for the word
    5. Delete column: Delete the row you are currently in.
