Workflow Instructions: Working with identifiers for third-party systems

Introduction

Imagine the following situation:

Your company uses a specific third-party system, such as JustSystems XMetaL XMAX. While one department uses the editor in authoring system X, another department uses an integration of XMAX in authoring system Y. Both departments have different requirements as to how Congree should behave in their case.

The challenge: In Settings Manager - Third-Party Systems, a configuration is assigned to a third-party system by default. In the example above, however, two different configurations are required. This is where identifiers come in.

An identifier is a character string you can use to identify a cloned third-party system configuration.

Step 1: Create an identifier

  1.

  2. In Congree Control Center go to the Settings Manager: Third-Party Systems menu.

  3. Select your third-party system in the Third-Party System area and click Clone:

    1. The New third-party system window will open up.

  4. Assign any name and identifier and click Add:

  5. To save your settings, click Save (bottom right in the menu).

  6. You have successfully created your identifier.

Let's now go on to step 2.

Step 2: Use the identifier during installation

  1.

  2. Open the Congree Deployment Assistant and go to the Configure Congree Components - Client menu (see also The Congree Deployment Assistant).

  3. Create the required clients:

  4. Configure your clients.

The configuration shown in the screenshot below means that there are the following clients:

    • Default client, on which Congree for XMAX with the Language Check and reporting for Language Check features are to be installed.

    • Alternative client, on which Congree for XMAX with the Authoring Memory and Authoring Memory Candidates features are to be installed.
This is the client on which XMAX is used in a different authoring system than on the Default client. This is why the identifier is used in the next step.

  5. Go to the client an identifier is to be assigned for its third-party system (here XMAX) and click on the button

    of the third-party system component.

    1.

    2. The Configuration for [third-party system, here XMAX] window will open up:

  6. Enter the identifier that you previously defined in the Congree Control Center and click OK:

  7. Continue configuration and installation as described in the Congree Installation and Platform Guide.

  8. You have successfully installed two different configurations of a third-party system.
