Getting Started: Update or adjust the Congree server host

Intro

This article describes how you can update the Congree server host. This will include the following steps:

  1. Update the Congree server host with the Congree Deployment Assistant
  2. Update the clients
  3. If necessary: Adjustments on the configuration host


Update the Congree server host

Requirements:

  • A functional Congree environment already exists.
  • You are logged in on the Congree configuration host (in most cases this is the main Congree server).
  • Your user account has the right to use the option "run as administrator".
  • The Congree Deployment Assistant is available.
  • You have read the paragraph Configuration changes due to specific updates and already performed the configuration changes if necessary.

Step by step

  • open the Congree Deployment Assistant with full administrative rights. To do so, right click the file and select "run as administrator".

> The installation menu of the Congree Deployment Assistant is opened.

  • Click on "Update" to start the update process.

> The page Install Congree Components will open. If possible, the verification and after that the installation of the updates will start immediately. If this is not done automatically, click on Verify.

Usually the address of the server is already noted in the text field. In most cases the address is localhost. If this field is empty, enter here localhost for the installation on the local server.

    • If the process realizes during the update that the update cannot be performed, the process aborts. The reason for the abort is displayed in the message window (in this example, the Congree Control Center was still open). Resolve the reason for the abort and click Verify to start the process again.

  • After the installation you are prompted to restart the server. Restart the server machine to do so.

Note

If your installation is spread across several servers, run the Congree Deployment Assistant also on the other servers.

Note

Depending on your configuration, also other hints may be displayed in the message window. These hints serve as reminder for necessary changes or updates on other servers.

Note

Do not forget to update the clients as well.

Configuration changes due to specific updates

For some updates we suggest in any case to adjust the configuration.

Update to v6 054 or later

The enhancement of the Reporting Service requires a new module in the server configuration. Open the Server configuration (1) and add the Congree Linguistic Reporting Service to the configuration (2). Save the configuration after that (3) and proceed to the update.

Step by step

  • Click on Configuration

> If the Congree Deployment Service needs an update, the button Update local environment configuration is displayed.

Confirm the update by clicking the button Update local environment configuration.

> The Congree Deployment Service is updated.

This cannot be undone. After this process you will not be able to access your configuration with older versions of the Congree Deployment Assistant.


  • After that click on Open local environment configuration to open the configuration menu

> The configuration menu is opened. You can now perform the necessary adjustments.

Hint

The configuration process of an existing installation is the same as the configuration of the initial installation. Therefore proceed as described in Configuration on the Configuration Host to adjust the configuration of the clients or the server. After having done the changes, save the configuration and click twice the arrow in the upper left corner to reach again the start menu of the Congree Deployment Assistant.
